Indian Snacks Recipes

Snacks are as popular in India as anywhere else and Indian snacks recipes are plentiful. Samosas are pretty commonly eaten in the west now and onion bhajis are often eaten as a snack as well a starter or side dish.

In Indian cities the streets are full of food venders selling all sorts of snacks. Favourites are aloo chaat, these are sort of Indian chips with chutney, Vada Pav is iconic food in India (like MacDonalds but healthier). Vadas can be made from lentils or gram flour or potatoes and are either like doughnuts or just simple patties which are deep fried. They are often eaten as a morning snack. Vada Pav is sort of potato fritter in a bun. Stuffed paratha - a flat bread filled with meat or vegetables are popular and really delicious. (I used to make these as a supper snack from left over aloo bhaji).

And then there are sweets like halwa, which is semolina flour fried in ghee with sugar, honey, nuts, raisins or any number of ither things, and gulab jamun - deepfried balls of dough in syrup. Even things like idlis and dosas are considered to be breakfast snacks. Lassi is a sort of yoghurt shake which can be sweet or savoury. There are literally hundreds of them.

I don't often make snacks - when I get my Indian head on I tend to go for main dishes and maybe a side dish or two. But there are a few here and, just for you, I will try to do some more things to put here in the future.

After 35 years at the grindstone I decided to find out if anyone really can master the art of building a profitable website without any prior knowledge.

Anyone can - simple as.

If you have any sort of passion for anything be it cooking, gardening, photography, DIY whatever; you can do this. If you like the idea of being your own boss then have a look and find out how you can!
